Day 8 - Bluff
Durango shops
Travel Log
We got up early and said goodbye to Purgatory resort and our holiday house (and the hot tub) to drive down to Durango for a wander down Main Street for some retail therapy and good coffee. The coffee was amazing at the Durango Coffee Company. We also picked up some croissants at a French bakery in town for tomorrow’s breakfast. We then started the 2.5hr drive to Bluff our next stop. We broke the journey with a stop at Walmart which turned out to be unexpectedly long and expensive. In fact we bought so much we had to also buy an extra suitcase to bring it all home!
We arrived late afternoon at Bluff Dwellings Resort and were blown away by how incredible it was. We could have spent a week there happily exploring the area and enjoying the pool but sadly had just one night. We made the most of it by pitching up poolside for several hours, long after sunset, enjoying the atmosphere and ordering pizza and smoothies from the snack shack. The kids had great fun jumping in and then later in the playground when the temperature had dropped. This is top of our list to return to, it’s hard to describe just how amazing the location was, it felt very spiritual to be surrounded by the sandstone cliffs.
Accommodation: 10/10 (a perfect spa resort in the desert)
