Day 6 - Purgatory Resort
Purgatory Resort · Honeyville · Live music & dinner @ James Ranch
Travel Log
Nick got out for an early trail run, finding bear scat almost immediately right in the middle of the trail. No bear sighting though. The run down on to Purgatory Flats though was lovely and felt like a real taste of wilderness and nature.
We’re staying just across from Purgatory resort with its lifts and amenities, so we paid for the day ticket giving us unlimited rides on the mountain coaster, toboggan slide and the chair lifts. This was probably our favourite activity so far. The mountain coaster was amazing - so exhilarating and with scenery to die for - providing you can take your eyes off the track for a minute as you hurtle around the bends. We had a great morning until thunder stopped play, at one point the thunder clap was directly overhead and so loud. This meant we missed a go up the scenic chairlift.
The kids enjoyed the panning for gems activity and I think Thea in particular really enjoying collecting the gems and identifying them from the card.
The storm wasn’t going anywhere soon so we headed back to the holiday house for lunch and to watch the storm from our balcony.
Later we headed down the valley to pop in to the honey farm - Honeyville - because Jasper loves his honey. On the way back we stopped at James Ranch for burgers and live music. This was a really relaxed atmosphere and very good food. We didn’t stay for too long because the girls wanted to use the hot tub before bed. They are still happily playing in it now, long past ‘bedtime’.
